Meet Coach Nate (Nathan Milgram)

A Rich Athletic Tradition & Pedigree

Coach Nate embraced competitive fencing at the age of ten, launching his career right here in the Bay Area at The Cardinal Fencing Club. Learning under world-renowned mentors — including Olympic Coach George Pogosov, Sasha Lepeshinski, and Grigory Kirienko — he quickly established himself on the global stage:

  • International Medalist: Secured both Gold and Silver medals competing in the European Maccabiah Games in Berlin and the Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv, Israel.
  • Drew University Team Captain: Earned four varsity letters during his collegiate career, serving as team captain for three consecutive years through his exceptional leadership and athletic performance.
  • Fencing Royalty: Proudly carries on the legacy of his legendary grandmother, American fencer and USA Fencing Hall of Famer, Sherry Posthumus, taking immense pride in passing down this rich heritage to modern fencers.

Coaching Experience & Philosophy

Coach Nate began his coaching journey at Stanford's prestigious international training camp, where he helped hone the skills of elite athletes from across the Asia-Pacific region. His coaching approach focuses on:

Foundational Skill Development

Dedicating over seven years to coaching novice fencers, instilling technical fundamentals and a passion for the sport in budding talents.

Leadership & Teamwork

Drawing from his years as a collegiate team captain to build confidence, sportsmanship, and resilience in his students.

Accessible Mentorship

Making the art of fencing engaging and approachable for young athletes taking their very first steps on the strip.

"Fencing is more than a sport — it is a lifelong tradition of character, discipline, and community. Carrying on my family's legacy by introducing this incredible art to a new generation of fencers is the greatest privilege of my career."Coach Nate
