Hailing from Italy—a nation with a storied history in the sport—Maestro Sandro brings more than 34 years of elite international coaching experience and a legacy of developing world champions to our club.
A Legacy of Strategic Excellence
Maestro Sandro's career spans prominent fencing hubs across Europe, Asia, and the United States. His extensive professional background includes:
- Elite Italian Foundations: Training under renowned masters rooted in the esteemed Di Rosa fencing school, he served as a fundamental leader for top historic clubs in Italy, including AS Dieffelle Scherma Venezia and Circolo della Spada Vicenza.
- Global Scope & Mentorship: Expanding the reach of European methodologies internationally by directing elite youth programs, including coaching at a fencing club, training the Mexican National Team, in China and working with the Italian U20 National Team.
- Proven Track Record: Successfully developing three World Champions alongside an extensive list of national victories in Italy over the last 15 years, including 3 Under-14 Male Foil Italian titles, a Senior Open Male Foil title, Open A2 and C2 league titles, and a gold team U14 Male Foil title.
Coaching Philosophy
Graduating from the Naples Fencing Academy with a Diploma as a Tecnico di 3° livello alle tre armi, Maestro Sandro holds the highest advanced level instructor certification across all three Olympic disciplines: foil, épée, and saber. His approach centers on:

Introducing groundbreaking original contributions to the sport, such as inventing the modern "Epee Marathon" tournament format and developing the highly effective "Prime Ceding Parry" counteroffensive technique for foil.

Leveraging his background from the ITIS Enrico Fermi in Venice, he applies expertise in mechanical drawing and technical problem-solving alongside quantitative metrics to systematically refine athlete movement.

Operating as a dedicated team builder and mentor not only in the gym but also in life, with extensive experience tailoring lessons for all levels, including coaching fencers with disabilities.
Notable Achievements
- Elite Competition Success: Produced three world champions in his career, as well as the current Italian National Team member Davide Filippi who has won numerous international and Italian titles.
- The Spirit of Sport: Personally awarded the prestigious USA Fencing Spirit of the Sport Champion award in recognition of his integrity, inclusion, and outstanding character off the strip.
