Club Policies
USA Fencing Membership:
- You are required at all times to have a USA Fencing Membership.
Equipment:
- I understand that in order to fence in the club programs/classes, I must wear all protective gear required by USA Fencing.
- I understand that my fencing equipment should be kept in good condition for safety.
- Equipment is not to be left overnight at the club.
- I understand that BAFC is not responsible for lost or stolen equipment.
Private Lessons
- Only for active members currently enrolled in group classes. If you wish to take lessons but not a group class you must register for “Open Bouting Membership”. For guest fencers, private lessons by agreement with a coach or office only.
- Private lessons can be scheduled online through Pike13. Recurring reservations can be made by the coach or front desk staff.
- Lessons must be canceled with 24 hrs. notice prior to the scheduled time. I understand I am responsible for checking on my online account to see when my lesson is scheduled and who my coach is.
- If my coach becomes unavailable for any reason, I may be offered a lesson with a different coach of the same level.
Tardiness:
- Please arrive 10 minutes early to warm up. If a student is late, the lesson will be shortened accordingly.
Make-Ups
- No make-ups for the late cancellations or no-shows.
Group Classes - Group Class Make-Ups
- Make-up classes are offered only for those plans that have additional classes scheduled during the week. (Beginner for example, have multiple beginning classes during the week so a make-up class may be scheduled with the front desk if there is room in class).
- If your plan does not have multiple classes then there are no make-up classes.
- Make-ups must be completed while the student is an actively enrolled/member. Unused make-ups do not roll over or qualify for credit/refund. Make-ups cannot be used if membership has been stopped or is on hold.
Vacation & Long-Term Absences
- Group Memberships are on autopayand billed monthly, and are not paused for competitions, short vacations or school breaks.
- Long-term holds are considered only for:
- Medical leave with a doctor’s note (3+ weeks)
- Summer travel - skipping the whole month/months may be available.
- College applications (Fall of senior year)
Promotion
- Moving to the next group level is based on the coach’s recommendation and will be done by the officeafter informing you.
Cancellations
- Cancel before the 20thof the previous month to avoid auto payment. No credits or refunds will be given for late notice.
- Members cannot request to cancelthe group memberships for the month/s if during those months they attend training camps with BAFC and/or competitions where BAFC coaches provide strip coaching.
- Consistency is important—please arrive on time and limit cancellations when possible.

Billing, Withdrawals & Refunds
- All memberships and class fees are charged automatically
- There are no partial refunds or prorated fees for mid-month withdrawals. Fencers may continue attending classes through the end of the paid month.
- I understand that payment is due on the 1rst (LG) or 27(Plznt) of the month and if I sign up mid-month my cost will be prorated and billed on that day. I understand that if I choose to stop attending class/program, I must cancel by the 20 of the month.
- I understand that I can pause my membership once per year. If I pause for a second time, I will have to pay a reactivation fee of 200.00.
Payment
- I understand that if I am taking a class/program or private/semi-private lessons at BAFC, I must leave a credit card on file.
- I am fully responsible for payment of all scheduled group and private/semi-private lessons and authorize BAFC to use my credit card on file to pay for them if they are not prepaid in advance.
- I understand that I have an online account at BAFC and have access to cancel my lessons online myself. If I am unable to do so, I may speak to someone in the office at least 24 hours prior to the appointed time for the cancellation to be accepted.
- All yearly memberships will be charged on Jan 1. If you join mid-year, the cost will be prorated and charged immediately for the remainder of the year. (currently no yearly membership is required)
- I understand that policies and prices change every year and I can get the most up-to-date information on current club requirements and policies anytime from the BAFC office/website.
- I am responsible for updating the BAFC office with the most up-to-date credit card information in order to continue taking classes/programs/lessons at the BAFC.
- In the event my multipack private lesson runs out, I authorize BAFC to renew my packet.
- All Strip Coaching Fees will be charged within the week following the competition.
Holiday Closures
- BAFC follows a published holiday schedule on the website.
- No refunds or make-ups are offered for group classes that fall on closed dates.
Non-Member club policy
- I understand in order to participate in open fencing, take private lessons, and/or take a program/class I must be a member. If I wish to participate in any activity at the club without membership, I will pay an additional cost/floor fee.
Pick up & Drop-off
- It is your responsibility to drop off and pick up your child in a timely manner. Please pick up your child within 10 min of class ending time. Failure to do so may cause a financial penalty.
Competition and Strip Coaching
- Unsportsmanlike conduct at a competition is grounds for termination.
- You represent BAFC and you are required to purchase a club jacket to be worn at all competitions.
- Remember you are a team and representing BAFC at all times.
- All policies regarding strip coaching are on the website. Please familiarize yourself with the policy. Cost is 100 per event plus travel cost for coaches.
Safety rules
- Respect for coaches and staff is required at all times it is your responsibility to behave and follow the coach’s instruction at all time.
- Locker-rooms are for changing purposes only. Please do not “hang out”
- Good sportsmanship is required and bad behavior will not be tolerated. If you exhibit poor behavior, you may be asked to sit out of class or asked to leave the club.
- Do not speak to your child from upstairs or outside of the fencing room. They should be paying attention to their coach and opponent. This is a safety issue.
- Only water is allowed on the fencing room floor or in the bag area.
- Athletes only on the fencing room floor or in the bag area – parents can watch from upstairs.
- Full fencing gear must be worn (except in beginning classes). Please be sure to keep your equipment up to date and in working order. This includes LONG SOCKS and always wearing an underarm protector
- Remember to salute and shake hands out of respect for your opponent.
- Your mask must stay on while on the strip or the rubber floor.
- Closed toed athletic shoes only.
- If you are at a competition, remember you are representing yourself, your family, your coach and BAFC – act accordingly. Poor behavior at competitions will not be tolerated and can lead to being asked to leave the club.
- Foul language is not acceptable – we understand there are “slips of the tongue” but consistent correction by BAFC staff may result in termination
- This is your club – treat it with respect at all times.
